What font is the Wicked logo?
Custom lettering, drawn for the musical and carried into the film. It borrows from art nouveau and from the theatrical posters of the 1900s — the period the Oz stories come from — with tall, narrow forms and a slight gothic lean.

Where the style comes from
The Oz books were published in 1900, and the logo reaches back to that moment rather than to anything modern. Art nouveau lettering of the period was tall, narrow and organic, with letters that bend toward each other instead of sitting on a strict grid. That is why a straight blackletter looks too severe and a plain serif looks too neutral — the target is the curve between them.
It is also why the free options work unusually well here. The reference is a public historical style with many faithful revivals, not a single proprietary typeface someone owns.
Setting it well
- Condense the line and let the letters nearly touch — art nouveau titles were set tight, not airy
- Emerald green with a gold or cream edge does more for recognition than the typeface alone
- For a subtitle, drop to a lighter art nouveau face rather than repeating the blackletter, which gets heavy fast at small sizes
