What font is the Pac-Man logo?
There are two answers. The on-screen text is a bitmap font built on an 8×8 grid — every letter made of square pixels, because that was the hardware.
The cabinet logo is different: soft rounded custom lettering with a bubble feel, which is what most people picture when they think of the brand.

Where the style comes from
Arcade hardware of 1980 stored characters as small bitmaps, so letters had to fit an 8×8 grid of pixels. Every quirk of the shapes — the flat curves, the thick stems — is that constraint showing through.
This is one of the rare cases where a free font can be exact rather than merely close, because the original was a grid of squares that anyone can reproduce.
Setting it well
- Set the size to a multiple of the pixel grid, or the letters blur and lose the whole point
- Turn off font smoothing and any anti-aliasing where you can
- Yellow on black matches the screen; the cabinet logo used a very different rounded style, so do not mix the two
