Zelda Font Generator
What font is the Zelda logo?
The series logo is custom drawn: serif capitals with exaggerated pointed serifs and a sword worked into the initial letter, redrawn for almost every entry.
Underneath the decoration it is a fairly conventional engraved serif, which is what makes it approachable with free faces.
The fonts here
- IM Fell English is the closest in character — an old printed serif with rough edges and real age to it.
- Cinzel is cleaner and more monumental, closer to the modern entries.
- Minya Nouvelle Rg is lighter and slightly irregular, good for in-world text and item names.
All three are free to download and use, including commercially.
Where the style comes from
Fantasy design borrows from medieval manuscripts and Renaissance printing because those forms are already associated with age and authority in most readers’ minds, without needing explanation.
The pointed serifs are the fantasy signal. A modern serif with flat serifs reads as a law firm no matter what else you do to it.
Setting it well
- Capitals for the title, mixed case for anything longer — pointed serifs get tiring quickly
- Gold with a dark outline is the series convention and carries more recognition than the letterforms
- Add the flourish to one letter only; decorating every letter turns it into a wedding invitation

Frequently asked questions about the Zelda Font
Is the Zelda Font free to download?
Yes. IM Fell English, Cinzel, and Minya Nouvelle Rg are free to download on this page. Check each designer's terms before commercial use.
Is this the exact font used for Zelda?
Not exactly. The original lettering was custom drawn or is not publicly licensed, so the fonts here are close recreations. IM Fell English is the nearest match we have found.
Can I use the Zelda Font commercially?
Treat that as two separate questions. The font file needs a licence that permits commercial use, which is set by whoever made it. Separately, the brand name, logo and characters are trademarks, so recreating a logo can infringe even with a properly licensed font. For merchandise or client work, check both.
How can I preview the Zelda Font with my own text?
